Two journals, two shapes

TradesViz is built for people who already have fills at a broker and want them imported. The site lists 70+ auto-sync connections and support for a long list of brokers. Pro, at $19.99 a month, opens every asset type, including stock options, plus the AI coach and a hosted MCP endpoint. Platinum, at $29.99 a month, adds the options command center: payoff charts, daily OPRA flow that arrives the next morning, simulators, and an options strategy backtester. The free Basic plan is a stock journal, with a monthly cap on executions. Confirm the current table on the TradesViz pricing page.

Vega trader does not import a broker file. You build the position from the chain or from a predefined structure, and a roll stays on that same trade. The page then shows current P/L, break-evens, and Delta, Gamma, Theta, and Vega. Real-time quotes, strategy groups, account groups, and price alerts are on Essential. The Free plan already includes the trade manager, the expiration calendar, dashboard analytics, and Vega AI.

Depth against a single options record

Platinum is the plan where TradesViz becomes an options workstation: grouped flow, contract maps, and a backtester that replays one strategy across many sessions. If you want several hundred performance charts, custom dashboards, and a simulator, that library is there. Vega trader keeps a shorter list on purpose: win rate, average profit, average loss, expectancy, drawdown, and the equity curve, plus twelve indicators once trades are grouped into a strategy or an account.

Both products can answer a question about your history with an assistant, and both can expose the journal to an MCP client. On Vega trader the in-app chat is on every plan. Free uses DeepSeek. Essential uses Gemini. The assistant reads the trades you logged. It does not place orders.

Which journal fits

Pick TradesViz when the import is the point, when you also trade futures or forex, or when next-morning options flow and a strategy backtester belong in the same login as the journal. Those options tools sit on Platinum.

Pick Vega trader when the thing you manage is a US option structure and you want its Greeks and expiration on the free plan, with real-time quotes when you move to Essential. You will type the legs in. There is no broker sync to turn on.

  • TradesViz, when broker import, multi-market stats, or the Platinum options tools are the reason you journal.
  • Vega trader, when you want one options position, its Greeks, and a question you can ask about it.

Questions people ask

Is Vega trader a TradesViz alternative?

For a US options journal, yes. You log the legs and read live or delayed P/L, Greeks, and closed-trade stats. TradesViz still goes further on broker import, multi-market stats, options flow, and options backtesting, mostly on Platinum.

Does the free TradesViz plan include options?

The TradesViz pricing table lists stocks on Basic and stock options on Pro and Platinum. Options payoff charts and the daily flow feed are Platinum features. Check the pricing page before you import an options file.

Can both journals talk to an MCP client?

Yes. TradesViz includes a hosted MCP endpoint on Pro and Platinum. Vega trader gives you an API key for Cursor, Claude, or any other MCP client, and the same journal is available in the in-app chat.
